Picked this up on trade with my lcs No hairlines but it's been wiped and there's a few streaks on the obverse. Can see it's been cleaned due to that. I'm going to send to NGC I think with some halves. I normally would not buy a raw 78cc Trade but it's a known variety and it tested good and weighed good. Curious your thoughts on the technical grade ( besides details ) I will upgrade as I can but was super happy to snag this hard date.      Edited by JasonKflo 10/03/2023 6:41 pm

The flattened face notwithstanding, I think there's enough device depth overall to warrant VF details. Cleaning just a bit too harsh for the TPG to forgive, but definitely a nice pick up.

Congratulations on getting the series key date. I agree on sending to a TPG for grading as it will help if you sell. I am at F Details scratched and cleaned, but would not be surprised on VF details. I have seen a number of circulated 78CC TD's that are over graded, and for some reason the TPG's go easy on this date.

I would like to optimistically think VF details scratched and cleaned, but otherwise pleasing enough, considering it's problems.
Although I am not a fan of slabbed coins, nevertheless, I hope NGC treats this one kindly. I feel that it certainly will not harm it's valuation.

Put me down in the VF25 details, cleaned, rev. scratched camp for now. Still a scarce coin in any grade. The odd marks around the date area are worth investigating further.

Well I knew it was cleaned. I thought VF details cleaned but got XF details harshly cleaned. Still looks ok to me for a key date so whatever haha

It is hard to put a value number with the harshly cleaned tag. My guess is in the $2500 range. A lot of 78CC's have the detail tag, and you may be better off with the XF harshly cleaned verses the VF cleaned.

I paid 1200 so I'm thinking it's a good place holder and as far as harshly cleaned it doesn't look bad To me .
