I don't really collect these...but...I do try and get ahold of any that look like nice original coins. I am sure you Bust Half collector's know that they are not easy to find un-cleaned. Right now there are probably 25 Bust halves in the case at the shop- not one remains un-cleaned- not all of them harshly cleaned, but cleaned nonetheless. That said , this one I am sure has been cleaned...but... it was so nice I just had to have it. Of course I haven't seen to many Bust Halves in XF or higher grades in hand so maybe my assessment is a little off . I thought that it looked like a very nicely struck coin with nice sharp rims and about half the stars have full details. Coins like this give me a little sticker shock though ! Worth every cent if you ask me ! If anyone is interested in attributing this coin, and cannot from these pics- I have a bunch of close ups if needed. Thanks ! All opinions appreciated, this should be a relatively easy one for grading ! Enough Yammering...make with the coin!

I'm going to say AU55. The detail is great but the color is off. Is it really that light or is it the photo?

That is a sweetie. It makes me wonder how many have actually been here in good ole Nebraska. The state wasn't a state until 1867?

AU-53, real strong strike like the others mentioned, but seems to have some obvious wear on the reverse near the talons and arrow feathers. I agree that the color is off, but I don't know if that's just the picture.

Large 0, O-122. Great strike. Overton says R.1, but Heritage only offered 3 in all of 2008, and none yet this year.
Cleaned, net AU55, and probably a $200 coin.

Thanks for your opinions and comments. The color is pretty close bherring, but my camera does not show the luster very well. I knew it was cleaned the second I saw it, there is no way a coin this old could still be this white and no toning. I am hoping that it may darken a bit to make it look a bit more natural, I think a Dansco album in a warm spot for a year or two should do it. When I saw the detail on that clasp , that sold me on this coin...it is a beauty in hand , and I agree with a cleaned AU-55 grade. Shadowcreator, the weakness you see in the talons and arrow feathers on the reverse corresponds with the weakness in the stars at the top of the obverse. This should not detract from the grade of a coin like this since it is still recognizable as strike weakness, IMO. I looked at a Morgan dollar tonight at the shop that had the flattest strike I can remember seeing, and it is am MS-63 coin. I will try to get some pics of that one Sat. if I can find it again. Supedave, thanks for the info and the attribution !
