1982 Small Date Lincoln Cents Zinc Or Copper

Gigi2 Valued Member United States 319 Posts	Posted 01/30/2024 3:12 pm I have 2 1982 small date lincoln cents. One weighs 2.53 . The other weighs 3.15. Does that mean that one is zinc? They're both in similar condition, which as you can see, is not fabulous. Report this Post to the Staff

kbbpll Pillar of the Community United States 4233 Posts	Posted 01/31/2024 12:41 am I don't understand why you would need a scale that goes to 0.0001 grams. The coins are going to vary in the >+/-0.01 gram range anyway. Learning to ID and collecting all 7 varieties out of circulation is fun, but only the 8th one is really worth anything and I don't think a third one will ever be found. It's been almost 5 years since the second one and people have been beating their brains out looking for another one. Report this Post to the Staff

Mint tolerance on a cent is +/- 0.10 on newer cents and 0.13 on older cents. A copper cent should weigh 3.11 grams and a copper plated cent 2.5 grams. John1 Report this Post to the Staff
