Die crack and chip. Lots of them on George VI halves and some get designated as "hoof in date." @pginrh wrote the book on these so perhaps he will comment.

I'm sure it is a die crack but I'm not sure which variety it is

Hans Zoell catalogued this particular die crack as variety FL444o 'Bell hammer" in his Third Minor Die Varieties catalogue.
