First and foremost thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a member of your community. Hello my name is Steve S. I am living in the Savannah, Ga. area and I am 57 years of age and I started collecting error coins about 3 years ago. I stumbled onto an article about the Lincoln Cent that was sold for sixty seven thousand dollars + or - it was described as being severely doubled so as to make you think your vision was impaired. Covid 19 had sadly put everyone in their homes and anyone that was a collector of anything worth a nickel was now able to sell it for a dime. I began to start saving my change looking forward to checking it thoroughly for mint errors. I had went down the rabbit hole and as you can see i"m still here. I am truly amazed that after 3 years of eagerly soaking up everything my tiny brain could absorb about coin collecting that if it was on the same scale as the education system I would probably say I am in the second grade as I failed the first grade and had to repeat it. As my mechanic says "THANK GOD" for youtube. I am going to go to the correct forum and ask the question that I need answered. If you have read this far I am going to go ahead and put it here first. I found a 1944 Mercury dime that has no reverse image on it. It was broad struck and weighed 2.1 Grams and and is the same diameter as normal Mercury dime. Is it possible that they could have let it get out of the mint without striking the reverse or intentionally done by someone is it possible to know for sure by some kind of testing?

To answer your question, can you clap with just one hand?
A coin cannot be minted with only one die.

I recommend you invest in that item known as a paragraph mark.

People tend to see a wall of text and ignore it. And you.

Full, large and sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse would be very useful. Thanks.

We will gladly help you, but we will need images first. We are locking this topic to prevent posts with "We need images". You will get many more quality responses when there are quality images in the first post of a topic. Please start a new topic when you are able to upload pictures. If needed you can use the testing forum. Tutorials are below.

Note: When you start a new topic this one may be removed. So don't panic if you get an email that your topic was removed it's only this one.

PC: We highly recommend IrfanView. (Download) (Irfanview Tutorial)

Apple Computers: Tutorial here: http://goccf.com/t/466343

Cell Phones (iPhone or Android): First, do not upload cell phone pictures of screens. They are terrible. Please check your camera settings are set to Medium quality. If it uses compression use 70%, it's perfectly fine for the internet. For file type please use WEBP if your phone has it, otherwise JPG. Avoid PNG and GIF, they are horrible choices. Be sure to crop the image to only show the coin. This is a great setup for cell phones.
