I had this 1986 P nickel that has a ridge round the edge on most sides that I have not seen that any other nickels through the hundreds and hundreds that I've been going for a recently. What is it?

to the CCF, tricky rick! Your coin looks like it was once in a bezel or encased.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Aye, looks to be an encased/bezel issue.

Like for a key chain but don't see Jefferson's that often in bezels. Most are the Buffalo nickels to draw attention.
