*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's essential to have it in the title. ***

So, with recent posts of the "elongated ray" made me do what others said they were going to do, looked at mine. I remembered I had one that came in a random lot of coins I bought a couple years ago that was slabbed by NGC as "Uncirculated", which it is clearly not....

Anyway, here are some pics of the third ray on mine, which is not like the George Washington coin that Marve65 has posted but did look odd, maybe just damage to the coin. I took a couple closeups with lighting from different directions and it can be seen in both. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for looking.
Jon.

Interesting... if it's some sort of die damage, such as a scratch, then it appears on yours as well, but to a different degree.

Thanks for looking Jeff. Even though a different obverse and mint, I thought it odd to have an anomaly in the same area. Were the Denver coins minted in Philly too? I know that's the case sometimes.

Not to my knowledge. I thought all of the dies were manufactured at the Philadelphia Mint, then shipped to their respective minting facilities for producing coins.
