I saw this on ebay for $135 and thought "I would be willing to pay $120 for this to see what PF 68s look like"

So I sent the seller a question and he not only turned me down but he also blocked me from bidding or buying anything from him

I told my wife that he didn't accept my offer (but not about him blocking me) but it was not a big deal because I found a better set for a little more and they had the labels I wanted

I made that seller an offer and they accepted it within minutes but a couple days later that item got canceled because that seller couldn't find the coins

So my sweet wife decided to buy the first set for $141 shipped it showed up today - SURPRISE

It's a beautiful set but it's not 69s and I have mixed feelings about a seller that blocks a buyer over such an innocuous request

Plus I would have to get them reholdered with the standard brown labels for my Slab collection

I might consider selling the set but I doubt I could get $141 for it

I like the coins and could use the presentation case for something, someday

Hmmmm.

I apologize if I missed it... Was the original listing a 'buy it now', or auction--in either case with the option clearly available to submit an offer?

It was a BIN for $135 with no option to "Make an Offer"

I have messaged sellers many times over the years and made them offers

Some accept then, some counter, some pass

I have never had anyone politly say no and then block me

But after posting this I went to the second listing and asked the seller if he found the coins yet.

Then I realized they are not all PF 69s

SO I guess I dodged a bullet on that one

Which "his" . MY wife bought the set from the that blocked me so for full price so he didn't really lose anything

It is a nice set either way.

I agree and I'm having a hard time figuring out why they are 68s

I might just have to change the concept of my slab collection to include any grade as long as I like it

After all, I have seen some affordable 70s that I passed on because my target grade was 69

There is nothing wrong with contacting a seller with an offer even if it is listed as BIN. If the seller is interested, they can accept or send you a counter, if not they can thank you for the offer, or not respond. Blocking someone for that reason is is quite odd.

Love the presentation case!

I know that folks put great store in a single grade point difference, but is it even possible to distinguish PF68 vs. PF69 without a microscope? The flaws must be tiny.

It's my impression that ebay doesn't encourage 'buyers to contact sellers directly with offers--if the listing doesn't support offers up front. Just my impression...

ebay doesn't want people conducting sales outside of ebay

A seller can send a specific person an offer for any item they have for sale through ebay

If I can't find something to use it for I'll let you have it for the cost of shipping

It is a nice set for PF-68s, they have a lot of eye appeal

Wow. I'm thinking that the seller was having a very very bad day or he/she were off their meds.
