So I missed out in getting the 2025 Silver Proof Set from the US Mint before they pulled them from what I've read due to quality issue with toning. At the time it was a little more than what I wanted to spend and figured I'd eventually get it on the aftermarket. However I'm now seeing that set for twice what the mint sold it on ebay and feel it may be a key set. The silver women's quarters are not too bad but the Kennedy half is asking $175 yikes. So yes, I'm having a FOMO moment and was wondering if I should get the Limited Edition Silver Proof set that is coming up. It's more than I really want to spend but eventually I would like to get all the silver proof coins over time since I am a completionist. I don't plan on collecting the American Eagles but I could use it if I ever start a 7070 album. So what is your opinon/advice? It's really hard trying to catch up on all the releases as opposed to being able to get them as they come along. Kinda stressful and I know I'm probably over thinking it. Just don't know if I should pony up the $$$ for the Limited Edition set or let future me worry about it when I get around to getting the silver proof coins. Or at least get the silver Women's quarters and deal with the other later. |

I am afraid that the standard silver proof set for 2025 is done for.  Might be best to go ahead and grab the LESP, liberate the coins you need, and sell the ASE maybe after silver runs up some more. Hopefully you will be able to recoup some of your money. Or you can wait it out. Maybe silver will come back down and bring the secondary market prices along with it. |

I remember in 2012 they suddenly announced they were stopping with silver proof set production. The 20212-S Kennedy became the new key date with lowest mintage ever. I rushed to ebay and got a couple before the price ea. skyrocketed to over 100.00 (not sure how high but it was above 100). The price is back down to what I paid for mine - using sold auctions in ebay as a guide (and some of those are even slabbed at less than $50.00). I am a Kennedy specialist wanting the most complete set I can assemble (including varieties and Carr overstrikes). But in 2020 when the mint, with no explanation, literally doubled the price of silver proof sets and proof ASEs, I cancelled my subscriptions seeing it as only greed and price gouging. Eventually I will get the silver proofs I don't have, but to this day I hate the mint could do something like this and so it still has left a bad taste in my mouth for completing the set. But prices have dropped b/c I did not rush right out and get one. It may be there will be heightened interest in the Kennedy half after its cessation this year, but generally, for some reason, relatively few people collect them. So prices seem to stabilize a lot lower after the initial FOMO rush. How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash? @ Dearborn: When the 2025 Silver Proof Set was offered at the USM website, there was no Mintage Limit or Product Limit posted. . .it may be a long while before we learn how many were produced
In the October 8 edition of CoinNews.net, sales of the set (as reported by the USM) are 113,797, a 93 unit decrease from the previous weekly report.

I assumed the ones they pulled would eventually go back on sale but I'm still waiting.

I fear with the price of silver going up they will jack up the prices again next year. It's a hard push to buy the silver proof set at $150 already  |

I'm excited yet also scared with next year's designs. I just hope they don't go crazy with different finishes. ie Reverse proof, enhanced finishes and now laser privy's. I know some like that but it does add to the cost of just trying to keep up.

The two three-coin sets from 1976 already seem quaint, but why offer one when you can do eight for eight times the price.  |

I was able to get one of the silver proof sets before they were pulled. The nickel in my set has a very minor mark and I was hoping to reorder and return it. It isn't looking good for that. While the price is a bit of a hit I plan on ordering the LE set. I prefer to get direct from the mint and with a what is going on with silver, Kennedy half dollars, and the S mint ASE it is, for me, the best plan and a no brainer. I am considering selling the ASE as I already have the S mint. |

The January 20th edition of Coin News reports 10,220 sets sold the prior week, bringing the new sales total to 124,489. More USM shenanigans. . .
