I think that your dime is just stained. If missing a clad layer, it would have copper showing and weak details. The real test is the weight - it would be substantially lower than 2.268 g. An edge photo would also tell much.

Probably most likely environment damage/staining like Hondo Boguss said.

I'm seeing post-strike damage. Coin may have spent some time in a poorly maintained fountain. An accurate weight might tell us more.

Did this coin just come out of the mint set packaging? If so, then you have a reason to suspect something. If this coin has been passed around and lying around since it was born, then it is going to be hard to win an argument. Just my fair opinion.

This is a 2025 dime not that old to have this much damage. Ftint and backbhave a copper hue, the edge silver is there. Should the edge be the same if it was enviromental or how would you do a chemical alteration without the sides being changed? I just going to be educated

environmentally toned - it had almost a full year to get this way depending where it was located at.
