This certainly has some crazy cool eye appeal and I'm happy to add this one to the collection. It weighs 4.82g so maybe some of the top layer flaked off as it became to brittle. The coin is still showing some luster so I think it could go MS62 but I'm curious what others think. I included some photos from a 2004 5c PCGS slab showing a similar error pattern.

Very dramatic looking. Was it a buy or a find?

Thanks ya'll!

This was a recent purchase. I believe it is uncirculated.

Thanks again!!

Rubenstein- Annealing errors are unique to clad or nickel coinage so your cent probably has something else going on.

Coinfrog- I was thinking this might be worth a submission, we'll see.

If you turn it in for grading, please come back with a solution.
I still have an issue as to why it appears gold instead of copper like the graded example one you posted.

Dearborn, here is another example. Again, from 2004, with a little less orange.

@ CoinHi, I get it when the coin look orange (Copper) that is due toto the improper annealing process that let the copper migrate to the surface. I just don't understand why yours is Gold in color and not coppery. Unless it is just the image not showing the copper color properly.
