I just got my page 5 for my Lincoln Dansco which starts with 2008 cents. I have received P & D 2008's, LP1's and LP2's from generous donors here on the forum and I received my 2009 Proof sets last week.

I was so excited to get the page in the album and the coins into it, I now have a question. For the 2009's, how has everyone else placed them in the album: Obverse up or Reverse up? Yeh I know you can see both sides of the coin just by turning the page, but with the different reverses, which do you show first?

what I did for my Jeffersons is "tales" side, followed by the two "heads" sides showing the dates for each design.

How many spaces are you saving for 2009 cents? The most I have heard is 24 different types

I will do mine the same way I did the Statehood Quarters, Tails side up for the "P" and Heads side up for the "D" which are harder to find here on the east coast.

I think that is the way I will change mine to be also. Since there is no mintmark on the "P" coins, I will put those reverse up and the "D" and "S" mint marks obverse up so you can see the mm's.
Rest in Peace

Only slightly off topic, and relevant to Terrell's post, I was disappointed by the new page 5 for the Dansco album. It has P,D,and S four times, one for each reverse. I feel it should have had P,P,D,D, and S for each obverse so you could have a P zinc and a P copper, etc, for each obverse, as the 1982 has spaces for both copper and zinc issues. I can see leaving the coppers out of the non proof only included album, but if the proofs are included, the coppers should be also. Not that my opinion is going to change what Dansco does.

I feel that all mint set coins from 2005 onward deserve their own holes since the satin finish coins are not the same as normal business strikes. Being satin finish and 95% copper makes the 2009 mint set cents even more distinct. That said, I agree with jgfindring!

I agree with Jgfinding and jbuck.

I do heads up withe cents - But I like the idea of doing Obverse for P and Reverse for D especially for Statehood Quarters (I have them all reverse side up)

I suppose if every coin in the album came from mint and proof sets only, then it is not big deal to use the satin finish coins.

I collect from circulation, so in my mind the satin finish will always be different. The mint sets I have broken apart were to get the NIFC version of coins, like the 1973 Eisenhower dollars. Of course, I used the other coins to fill the 1973 holes in the other albums!

I have been having a terrible time finding current circulating coins, 2008 and now 2009 being perfect examples. I can not bring myself to using mint sets to fill those holes, knowing they are different!

Dansco has set a precedent that I believe applies to this dilemma. In my opinion, the satin finish mint sets are in the same class as the Special Mint Sets of 1965~1967. My Kennedy half dollar Dansco album has labeled holes for these three coins! Oddly, no other Dansco album has SMS holes; at least none of mine do. Of course, the Kennedy album also has a place for a 1964 Proof; no other modern series "including Proof-Only issues" Dansco album has holes for proofs before 1968.
