*** Edited by Staff to Add Year and/or Mintmark and/or Denomination to Title. It's essential to have it in the title. ***Dont know if this post is allowed. If not, my apologies This sold for just under $90.00 US plus commision. Is that a good deal? https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...CGS-MS-65-RD

$95.94 plus tax and shipping... close to $115... Seems like a question for TropicalBats, Badthad, Joeturbo or even maybe Willburton to answer. Maybe they'll show..But hey bidder must be happy with it right ?

It's a simple answer for me. I love the 1938 S/S/S cent. Always have since I found my first one and now I have four high grade ones in my collection not graded. I paid around $30 each for the ones I purchased and considering TPG would cost between $50 and $70 each ....the price you stated seems fair......Not a deal, but certainly not a robbery either. The 1938 S/S/S cent in MS condition is a fascinating very early Lincoln. Just my opinion. Good luck ..

This is the best answer I can give you. At the end of the day it's worth what ever someone is willing to pay.if I could have bought that coin for around 100$ I probably would have. Provided I didn't already own one.

Regarding pricing, the objective of the buyer matters. A variety collector who desires the coin can pay whatever they wish within their budget, especially if they particularly fancy a specific coin. From an investment or resale perspective, I suppose that I disagree with the above viewpoints. I consider $110 to be overpaying. PCGS shows a population of 120 at MS65RD, and 193 at MS66RD. That variety has a number of recorded sales, so graded specimens change hands fairly often. The recorded prices are considerably lower than this particular sale. If I personally wanted a slabbed specimen of this variety, I would have put it on my list and waited patiently for a good deal to appear on ebay.

Here's one I picked on ebay for about $30 a couple years back. I know for a fact, if you utilize the Mint Mark placement & markers, you can absolutely find an unattributed one for substantially less. $90 plus fees is probably a fair market value though.

This variety in that grade can easily be bought on ebay in the $75 range most any time. I won't grade any RAW coins that come in unless they are clearly 66 or better as at MS65 it is a cost loser, often selling at auction around $65. Two months ago I sold a RAW coin that at a minimum would go 65RB and it went for $35 https://www.ebay.com/itm/3364099174...+cent+fs+502That said, there are a number of die stages, and some coins look nicer than others even at the same grade. Could be that coin was in a die stage that a couple folks were keen to acquire and it got pushed up. But if you just want one in that grade you could buy one on ebay for an awful lot less.
