A few weeks ago I posted this token and mentioned I has been unable to attribute it to a specific location. After a lot of internet searching and numerous dead ends I have found the following.

1) Per token catalog this token shares a reverse with 15 other tokens produced in 1901-1905 with 13 of those being from Washington state.

2) In 1902 the Del Monte Liquor House operated at 1502 Pacific Ave in Tacoma, WA.

3) 1502 Pacific Ave was built for the Union Savings Bank and was know as the "Savings Bank" building. The Del Monte Liquor House opened after the bank closed.

4) Del Monte Liquor House in the Savings Bank building = The Savings Bank Liquor House?

Is this enough for an attribution?

The bank opened in 1891 and went into receivership in 1897. See below

An eighth of a dollar. "Piece of Eight." One bit or half a quarter (a quarter is two bits).

Well that wraps up the loose end. Great bit of sleuthing...

Looks like that would get you a pint of beer at the old Liquor House at the time if AI wasn't hallucinating. Sounds about right?

Cool token!

I went through a number of AI hallucinations to get here but the Del Monte Liquor House and the Savings Bank are both documented in Tacoma city directories. What is very strange is that both Google AI and MS copilot told me the Savings Bank Liquor House was a saloon in Nome Alaska on Front street and that I could find the token listed in the Benice book on Alaska tokens. I have a copy of the book and when I told the AI it was not listed it admitted to the hallucination but told me the saloon was listed in the 1902 Polk directory for Nome which is not available online. I contacted the Alaska State Archives and they looked and it's not listed there either. When challenged both AIs admitted it was a complete hallucination. AI can be useful, I doubt I would have ever connected the Del Monte Liquor House with the Savings Bank on my own but they can really send you down some false paths.
