I have a funny story about those 1976 halves. I ordered a couple of boxes from my local credit union and they told me it would be a couple of weeks before they ordered coins again. That was fine with me. I promised to NOT bring my searched coins back to them and they liked that a lot. Several weeks later I went in to deposit a check and they had arrived. However the manager had forgotten whether I wanted half dollars or dollars, so she ordered 2 boxes of each. I took 'em all and found a lot more cool stuff in the dollar boxes than the half dollar boxes. The next time I went in I asked them to repeat the order. They had a new teller and she asked if I found any of the Bicentennial halves and I told her I had found a bunch. She said she would love to buy every one of them. She just liked them. The next day I brought up 6 rolls and deposited them so she could buy them. Since then I have received several calls from her, even when working at different branches, telling me she has found coins she is saving for me. I even have her looking for July 4th quarters for me. So those 1976 half dollars got me an "in" I otherwise would not have.
