I found a 1950 in VF condition and a 1951 D in F condition IN THE SAME ROLL! Only need 7 more nickels for a complete set(minus the 2009 of course)all from roll searching and all since this April. AMAZING!

I had to buy my 1950 D. All the rest, except proofs (actually even found a couple of those), came from rolls. A fun and difficult quest.

I have never found a proof nickel roll searching or in circulation. My brother did. I think he found a 1977 S. There might have been a few earlier without S mint mark only dates that slipped by me in very circulated condition. But proof only, I know I never saw one on the loose. I did happen to buy both of my 1942 Proofs, TY 1 and TY 2 on ebay and they were listed as uncirculated.

Wheezy , I went through a few rolls of nickels recently and came away with half a dozen S mint nickels from the 70's.If they were proofs they aint anymore , well circulated.I thought it very strange to find so many in so few rolls , they might well have all came out the same roll , I think they did.

ive only found 3 proofs, 1950, 1971s, and 1987s. I expect the incidence number of proofs to start increasing the longer the recession lasts. -XoG

I used to run a cash register and I would always thumb through the coins. While opening a roll of nickels and dimes in there, out came a few proof nickles and dimes from the mid 80's!

I remember the day I found a 50D while searching nickel rolls. Looked at it for three days until finally convinced it was what I saw.

No proofs yet for me. I need about 12 more coins for my nickel collection.

Wow .... you are doing great hockingzig ...... I wonder about your pace ..... how many rolls (boxes?) are you seraching every week. I as well am on a quest to collect the entire circulation strike Jefferson series from rolls ..... so far I have been through 1640 rolls (65,600 coins) and have 8 coins needed to complete the series. The 'rarest' of my finds is a 1939-D ..... by my data the rarest of the entire series when considering circulation loss ..... but that's another dabate. I have found one proof-only .... a 2001-S dinged up but still shining in a bank roll. Sounds like you are well on your way ...... good for you. Enjoy your success David
