How about this one: an 1882 Carson City Morgan dollar in an older PCGS slab. Almost certainly this was a GSA coin but it was already slabbed when I bought it. I like it, but what do you all think?

At least MS-63, coin is stating to take on a nice tone. Very nice CC.
Rest in Peace

Nice coin! I'd say 62-63 pl/dmpl....or somewhere in that range.

The coin has a fantastic reverse. The obverse is not as clean though and I'm guessing MS63. A 64 wouldn't totally surprise me, but there's a bit too much cheek action going on to call it an honest 64.

Anything below 63 would be inappropriate. Very nice!

I would say it is MS-63/MS-64 DMPL. Very nice for a GSA coin! Great CC coin!

I don't like the cheek. I would give it a 62 (although I will admit that might be harsh considering how photos tend to enhance that). Too bad the obverse is not as good as that reverse.

MS-64 PL, I can imagine that many of the cheek marks are much smaller in hand. Not DMPL though.

Ah, but it is, at least according to PCGS. I can read printed standard text out to at least 6 inches in the mirrored fields on both sides. It gets a bit fuzzy out to 8 inches. I would agree it's not a particularly deep DMPL. The cheek scuffs are all shallow although there are quite a few of them. It's possible PCGS was a bit generous with an MS-64 DMPL grade.

Once again, Coin Community graders are on average a bit more conservative than PCGS.

I'm a bit surprised but not totally shocked by the 64 grade. The reverse is 65 and the obverse is 63.

Very nice CC.
