Hi Guys, I'm totally new to coin collecting and have a curiosity question more than anything. I recently took out this Franklin half dollar that had been laying around in a cigar box for years and noticed I can see the copper showing through quite a bit. Is this normal given they're supposedly 90% silver for 1954? Thanks
What you have there is toning that formed over the years. Many chemical changes occur especially on silver. The cigar box I'm sure had something to do with it.
