I was pawing my way through a bag of Buffalo nickels when I found THIS. Note the mint mark!

Could that be? The old 1936 S over S in the bag of Buffalo nickels trick! Nice eye!

I do think these are even more scarce than the more famous 1938 D over S. I would estimate your coin could fetch up to 50 bucks.

It really stood out, even without magnification. I think it might be the most pronounced RPM in the series.

I'm sorry, but I'm just seeing a regular 1936S Buffalo that has a flattened bottom part to the S. I could be wrong but that is what I see in the photo.

I am not a buffalo herder so I went and looked around and found a few slabbed examples and this one matches up

Interesting!...Shouldn't there be doubling on the inside top part of the S? I may be missing what you see. (Oldtimers eyes for very fine detail)

It's actually been a pretty nice bag of nickels. In addition to this RPM, I found a VF 1931-S, quite a few full horn coins from the '30s, quite a few full 4 digit P-mint dates from the teens and a bunch of dateless mint marked coins, one of which turned out to be a 1918/7-D overdate!

DVCollector: Here ya go. Keep in mind that I never said that it was a GOOD LOOKING overdate...just an overdate. The obverse is rather horrible with all those scratches. Too bad because the reverse restored real nice. Oh well, always nice to find one regardless of the condition.
