Where's the best place to grab an ASE for my 7070 album? I'd like a nice example, but one where I won't freak out if I turn around and somebody has it in hand. They seem to be running mid to high $30s, right? Any premium for a W? Recommendations on years? Thanks.

This is a common bullion coin and usually sold at shows at a minor premium above melt value.

I say go to any reasonable-sized coin show in your area and you will have a thousand (plus) ASE to choose from.

If it's for your 7070 I see no reason to pay a premium for a Proof coin ......

Even though Silver Eagles are bullion coins, you do have quite a selection to choose from for your 7070. You can get a proof, a reverse proof, a burnished coin or a regular ol' business strike. There are even some varieties, such as the 2008-W with 2007 reverse. You could even pay top dollar and get a 1995-W proof...but that is kinda overkill unless you have 4 grand or more to just toss around. I kind of agree with nickelsearcher. If you don't want to worry about it being handled carelessly by someone just go on ebay and buy a nice looking business strike...say, maybe from the first year of mintage, 1986.

Just checked out ebay and was surprised to see them selling for $40 a pop. Shame I didn't pick up more of these when I was getting em for $20 a piece.

Deltron,

When they are $100 a piece, you'll be saying; "Shame I didn't pick up more of these when I was getting 'em for $40 a piece." ;)
