I don't know how to grade these, but I sure do like the eye appeal of this coin. Looks like it still has some traces of mint red with underlying luster. I find that I'm really starting to like Canadian cents, especially the large cents.

I don't know how much longer I can resist the pull of the dark side.... LOL!

...maybe not much longer if I keep looking at nice looking coins like this one...

on the reverse is there a scratch just above the N in ONE or is that the plastic? Nice coin there!

The scratch actually is on the coin, but you have to hold it at the right angle to be able to see it.

Shaft, in the US this coin will grade AU 50 if not 55 IMO.

Yes, I agree, if very well could, the reason I graded it EF, I see some digs or marks on it.
