It started with 1878 VAM-82 Morgan now I can't stop. Picked up another 1878 Morgan today. This time a 7/8 TF

Check VAM 38. Although the tail feather tips on the coin's reverse are the primary keys to narrowing down the variety, the VAM-38 has spectacular doubling of obverse details such as date along with all the obverse stars and letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM. There are some other diagnostics as well.

note the doubled nostril as well in your last Picture, looks like a lock on Vam38....very cool coins the 7/8TF coins!
