Ganesha New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 02/14/2011 8:18 pm Look at the edge of the mint case. There is a seam on one side. Insert the flat edge of an xacto knife (or similar tool) into the seam and slowly split it open. Report this Post to the Staff
just carl Bedrock of the Community United States 20753 Posts	Posted 02/15/2011 10:44 am Always be carefull opening up any plastic cases for the coins. Not to much for the possibilities of damaging a coin, but for your eyes. You can always get a new coin but not to easy to replace your eyes. People that recommend bolt cutters, side cutters, pliers, etc. seldom mention the use of safety glasses. Flying peices of plastic with sharp edges can do a real job on your face and eyes. Many use a Dremel type tool to cut off the edges but even then safety glasses should ALWAYS be recommended. Report this Post to the Staff
jbuck Moderator United States 189340 Posts	Posted 02/15/2011 11:04 am Do not confuse these with slabs! The cases from the mint are not sealed and snap apart quite easily. As said above, look for the seam and slowly split it open. Be careful not to open it too fast or you might have coins popping out! Just in case, I always open them over a clean, plush cloth.
