Thanks throwback kid! I really like your 09-s indian, better date to boot! I think the $10 indian is my favorite US gold coin type out of everything, even more so than the incuse design, though the incuse is a close second. If the premiums were the same as with the libs, $5 indians is all I would buy for my roll...but as it stands I have 10 indians and 17 libs Updated photos.

Great info as always Johnny, and why am I not surprised you have a great example of one of those Spanish gold coins.

Good to also note that link I posted is of a coin that is....(Shall we say 1/25th oz. gold coin), and no way I am gonna fork out $370 for 100 bucks worth of gold, via a cat gold coin or something for 99 and free shipping. I could get a nice half Indian or Eagle for that nearly....

Quick note, I bought 5 gold coin cases via 1 10th oz. made for gold eagles. I have also placed a 2.5 peso 1945 in them, a Panda 1 20th, and a 1 25th cat coin, so I will take a picture and list my smallest coin too largest, which will provide some great scale ideas for some of you who have not got many gold coins yet if any at all....

You may note the four cases which is again made for 1 10th oz. gold coins, does not do a great job at all of keeping the smaller coin centered like the 1 20th Panda and 1 25th cat coin, but I can design a foam boarder to keep them in place and centered, and at least in case they are protected from my fingers, lol....

Goal:-Full-Tube-Of-Half-Eagles!

The circle picture has the largest in the center obviously the 1880-s Half Eagle, next smallest Half Sovereign, Gold eagle 1 10th, Peso 1945 2.5, Panda 1 20th, cat coin 1 25th, and finally the Galileo 3/4 a gram gold coin from Liberia....

Very very nice gold hoard, Johnny. Well done!

Hawk's hoard is coming along nicely as well. It features the smaller coins but has excellent variety. Well done as well.

That tube of Half Eagles is really adding up. Your stuff is really adding up too Hawk. I have 3/8 to go and I'll be up to 5 ounces which was my goal. I'll stop there unless gold makes a nice pullback to $1200 or so. I really think we'll see $1800 by the end of the year.

Yeah Johnny stash looks so good now, it reminds me of a section on the pirate ship in the old Gooneys movie, lol....

Like looking back in a time capsule to see so many great old gold coins together....

NICE jonny!
question: how much on avg over spot are you getting?
Question2: do you buy ebay? or local shops or CCF?
I have seen on ebay some going for under spot, ie. $375 took a couple last week.
question4: what is your monthly/yearly budget?

was it hard buying the first one? and what about the wife? lol. if my wife heard this hair brained scheme she may have a few choice words for me...lol.. how did you handle that?-

maybe for us lower income earners, start with the $2.5?

but as some mentioned earlier, which series commands more over spot? thats the key for me. getting at or below spot, which I think is very doable

Not a problem... it's always good to have new people come into the forum and share their knowledge and experience. Raising questions for us all to consider is good too.

one more question: if you can answer, is this goal more investment or collector oriented?

the way I see it, if it was investment, why not buy bullion?(wifes question)

i replied, its history. and if I can get it at melt, I'm still getting the same amount of pure gold for the price as I would a bullion round.
