I think this is FS-01-1969D-901 from the 5th ED. of the CherryPickers Guide. Found in a roll. Thoughts? ideas? Thanks!

I don't see a trace of the designer's initials. Looks like you found it. Some collectors don't consider this coin to be a variety since the missing initials is to due to die polishing.

Looks like you certainly have a "passable" example of the "variety" listed as FS-901. I have VERY strong opinions of this coin.

Here's a thread that sheds a little light on the coin.

After you read it, I've got a conclusion-

I requested a "variety review" after a dozen of these coins were denied the attribution by PCGS. They certified two of the coins I had, then when I sent in a bunch of them all together, they declined to attribute, just put 69-D and a grade on the holder. "variety review" didn't do anything but waste my time. Still denied the attribution. BUT- the coins they didn't attribute are from the same die as the 2 they did. EXPLAIN THAT.

So, in the end, I have more than 12 of these coins, clearly as they were listed in the Cherrypicker's guide, but because of PCGS politics, they're $1 coins in slabs, not $500 coins. Not fair.
