I always end up setting targets in my head whether I admit it or not.
Some targets are for quality and sometimes targets are just sheer quantity. One that's been bouncing around in my head for a long time is I'd like a roll of 20 cent pieces. After 30 years of picking, I'm only half way there (26 coins). I don't think at this rate I'm going to finish that one.
Another goal is to have acquired 500 holed fishscales. I have 430 at last count. I'm going to make an elephant with a silver wire frame when I have enough. I refuse to drill any, I only buy holed or lots with one it it.
Anyone else do this to themselves?

Fortunately I haven't started this "target setting" yet. Perhaps I will when I retire and start smoking Marijuana. Glenn

LOL.... glenzy... geez you give me too much credit. I think it's some by product of the OCD that keeps us all collecting. Anyone have a holed fishscale for me? anyone? anyone?

I can see where your coming from. I have thought of putting together a set of Buffalo nickels that are all dark or rusted. But then I thought why invest any kind of money in something that probably have no real value.

Ugly, you're a day late in disclosing your holey fishscale penchant. Last night I mailed you a postcard for your contest and then searched through my newfoundland fishscales, pulled out two bent ones and a holed one to sell for melt.Could have taped the holey one to the postcard.

I'm working on a set of 1858 large cents by identified die pairs. There are 50 some odd identified pairings so far. I'm about 60% done. I finished the 1859/8 group a few weeks back. There were 18 in that set. I will extend that set to 1858 and 1859 N9 coins that share the same obverse working dies as 1859/8's.

There is a certain Canadian variety I have been buying, priced fairly high in trends, as only about 40 have been certified by ICCS in all grades.Number 17 should arrive in the mail this week.If I live long enough to reach a quantity more than the number certified I will send them all to ICCS and upset the trends applecart, just to prove a point. That's just one of my possibly unattainable goals.

I've been working on a set of pre-confederation tokens in proof for about 20 years. So far, I have 10 of the 14 tokens on my original list. Maybe I'll give it another 10 years or so!

Those are beauties, that's for sure. I have never targeted them myself yet I am here now coveting what I see.
