Has anyone found/made a good mobile app that keeps track of a coin collection? The app would not only keep a list of what you have but also maintain some sort of wish list. I tried looking through Apple's App Store, the Google Android App Market, and Amazon's Android Market but nothing came up. Maybe I am using the wrong search terms.

I do not have any apps, but there are two things I do with my Droid on the go (for example, at coin shows).

I render my want list spreadsheet into a PDF and use Adobe Reader on my Droid. I could also do the same with the spreadsheet that I use to record my inventory. I was using the document viewer to view the spreadsheet directly, but Adobe Reader scrolls and zooms better.

I also use a browser (Dolphin is my choice) to view NumisMedia.com to check pricing.

Files Lite is what I used on my iPod touch before I got the Droid!

I highly recommend it. It handled my spreadsheets very well, so there was no need to render them into a PDF.

Wow, you must have great eyes or that new phone has a great LCD Screen on it.

I don't think anything works well on my BBerry. Looks like its time for that mobile upgrade. Tried viewing a spreadsheet once and it took forever to find what I needed when I zoomed in trying read the want list.

Great eyes are not necessary. Notice how I mentioned that the Adobe Reader app has a better zoom feature.

Part of the better zoom is being able to key in what I want to see. The document viewer that comes with Android is very clumsy; I had the same problems trying to key in on what I wanted to see.

Hmm... it's so odd that there isn't a mobile app. I suppose we collecors are pretty picky about the formating of how we catalog our coins it would be difficult to make a program that satisfies us all.

i have been using CLZ Comics for my comic books and it is one slick program. it requires data entry on a PC and then the database is uploaded to the mobile device. I would love to see something like that for coin collecting.

If you are ambitious, you can always download the Android SDK and write your own. Be warned, however, that thing is a resource hog!

I do not see the need to for an app since the spreadsheet has served me for so long (dating back to my Commodore 64 days; you do not even want to know how I did an inventory on my ZX-81). I have tried specialized applications in the past, but I always go back to the spreadsheet.

But that is just me; others will disagree and want something more robust. I do predict that as the smartphone application market matures, someone will eventually create the app you are looking for. Further down the road, of course, there will be multiple apps to choose from.

You can pick up the new Google Docs app from the market then create a spreadsheet with your collection. That way you can access it from your phone and computer without worrying about syncing or printing to PDF every time you make a change.

Hi, new guy here.
For my Droid, using coin manager on my pc I export my data to html.
Then copy or download to my droid. There are many free html viewers out there on the android market.
It works pretty well..

It would also be pretty cool if they made a cherry pickers app, with pictures of any variety of any coin you would want, although I suppose that would also help out dealers realize what they had easier than before, and could effectively kill most of the potential cherry picks.

I found this one for Cherry Picking, its only for IPhone. Not sure if their making it for Android. Its called Pocket Change Prospector. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Srpitd_-Pk
Thats a link to their you tube video, looks pretty cool. Hope this helps some IPhone owners. I'll post any other I come across.

For android theirs a free app called Extensive Notes I use it on my Evo, Highly Recommend! I use it to store all kinds of info. For a free app its well done.

I do the same thing with a Spread sheet on my iPad.

I would love if there was a cherry picker app, numismatic app, and of course a ccf app. :D

Honestly ,there's 2 things I want for my android phone.

A complete numismedia price guide for offline use, and offline PCGSphotograde.

Photograde doesn't work very well with the android browser (Although they do have an app for Iphone that works well).

I guess I could go to numismedia and download all their charts, but it'd be much nicer if it was just in a handy offline file. Sometimes I go in buildings where my cell signal dies out.

The metal detector app works, but it does not discriminate. That is, you will not be able to tell silver from clad, or copper from zinc. It is either a hit or a miss, with nothing in between.
