How Does Original Mint Damage Affect A Coin's Value?

paleoguy45 Pillar of the Community United States 2936 Posts	Posted 06/07/2011 6:10 pm While getting photos of all my 7070 coins I happened to notice that a pristine(IMO)1839 Dime had what appeared to be significant damage inflicted during the striking process. Does this have a significant impact on the value of the coin since it occurred at the Mint? Photos follow (and you'll see her again on 7 July in Moe's awesome 7070 thread. Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6404 Posts	Posted 06/07/2011 7:19 pm I agree, this looks like some very unfortunate post-mint damage to what otherwise is a high grade coin. The potential value will probably be reduced 25-50% compared to a similar but undamaged example. Report this Post to the Staff
