Nice coin for such an adventure. Bit heavy, though. Just make sure that it does not go through the washing machine! My idea of an ideal American pocket piece would be a common date walker in about MS60. Bit lighter and not so risky, value wise. And more old folk would remember what it is when you show it. I considered doing this with a half eagle, but chickened out(for fear of losing it). I'd grade it AU-50. It should bring a small premium, probably 5-8%. Report this Post to the Staff

I think that it will bring a 3 to 5% or so premium over melt, as Commercial Uncirculated pieces are only bringing about 10% or even less over melt. Report this Post to the Staff
