1792 Kentucky Colonial Token - Color And Toning Question

I ran across one of these the other day and decided that it would be good for a Kentucky boy to have one. I saw one at a local place and it was in high AU/low MS condition for a decent price.

It was evenly toned a nice chocolate brown except for one spot which was lighter and more red. I wouldn't say it was a distracting spot, but I wondered if this was normal and not due to some type of damage that would get this coin a details designation.

Some of you guys that deal with old copper - is a little splotchy toning a major negative? In fairness to the token it is nearly 225 years old and I don't think I would color real evenly over that long either. Sorry I didn't get a picture of it now. Thanks

A picture would be very helpful. My main concern would be cleaned and then artificially darkened.
They are cool. I have yet to acquire one.
