Thanks for the comments my Grandmother gave it to me when I was around 8 years old. Back in the early 70's.

Neat and old coin. I only have two large cents, both from the 1850s. Were you a coin collector as a kid or did she just give it to you, attempting to spark your interest?

Thanks for the kind words. There were some amazing treasures that came from my Grandmothers. The family owned the very rural general store / post office / telegraph office for years going back generations. When they could afford to they put away a special coin every now and then. We also had family in Boston and they traveled there a lot.

Sadly the real treasures are long gone, my oldest brother got them and I believe spent them at face back in the 70's. I have several old copper and brass coins that were of no interest to him. I don't remember much but I know there were Canadian and American silver dollars from the late 30's through to the late 60's. Pre war stuff....

If I find some time I'll post some pictures of the coins that I've saved.
