It looks like an 1890 with repunching on the '0', but the coin is so beat up I can't be sure. I can't find anything in Snow's guide that resembles it. One thing I can tell you is that it cannot be an 1890/9 overdate. There is only one and that is an 1888/7. Full pics of the obverse and reverse might help but I doubt it.

Yeah I'll have to get some of the crud off. A RPD is worth considering for sure. I just thought the positioning and possible bottom hook would line up for where a 9 might be...

Man I love this little beast right now. Yes it will be my experimental pics post haha. It really looks like a 9 under the 0 to me. The rest will take hold but of what is uncertain for now.  |

Yes the odds are against me on an overdate but thank you guys :-) I believe it would still constitute a new variety if I am correct.

They can't all be winners but I thought I'd put forth the effort on this one. Progress...slow progress. But coming along nicely nonetheless.I think if this keeps going well the 9 under the 0 ( as I see it at least) will show dominantly. Hoping positive thinking will create positive results haha  |

Appears that the 0 is covering a 1. That makes no CENTS though. 1/0 is possible but a 0/1 is unlikely. 9/8? Then you would have a possible 1890/1881? OR it's all just PMD.  |

I have seen corrosion on IHCs many times and it can play tricks on you because your mind is trying to look for a number. Corrosion damages the coin and the damage can create hills and valleys in spots and lead to the impression there is a number there when there isn't.
I'm not yet convinced there is anything here.
