a friend of mine brought this to me cause he knew that I collected coins and I'm wondering if I paid too much for this coin I paid $20

Grade is about good, and you paid about $10-$12 too much.

 and  I think you over paid as well by double or so. If you need a quick price range pull up ebay completed sales for an idea.

N-3 common variety, yes you overpaid but it's not going to hurt you.
