Hi Everyone, today while I was at work, my co-worker got a red seal $5, series 1963, To make the story short, I went out to get some shopping carts that were in the parking lot, when I got back to my register my coworker approached me and had a $5 red seal in her hand! (I guess an old lady paid with it) I instantly said, "I'll give you 5 bucks for it!" (because she, nor anyone else who works with me knows much about collecting currency, I figured I would try!), and she told me she isn't selling it , out of desperation I said to her, "I'll give ya 10 bucks for it, I'm paying you 10 dollars for a 5, who else is gonna give ya this deal!?". LOL and she instantly pulled the 5 out of her pocket, and I paid her a 10, This is the second red seal that I have and I am really excited about it! I was wondering after I bought it, was that a good deal, or did I pay too much?

It depends on the condition. You can usually find them for around 7-8 dollars.

Though value does of course depend on condition, there is something about a coin/bill that you KNOW has been pulled from circulation that is more valuable to you. After all, we are collecting monetary items here, items that were meant to be used (not manufactured in proof condition and sealed away).

It sounds like a win-win situation to me!
Next time she finds something, she'll come to you again.
