I remembered I had a quarter that was copper on one side. I wanted to share some photos and get everyone's thoughts. How do you value errors? I don't know much about them. Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 10/01/2017 11:09 pm This is a real loss of plating strike, lost pre strike. Because there is a slight thinner planchet (less weight), there is a slight sign of weak struck on some design elements, full downward pressure didn't reach the whole coin. (Note QUARTER DOLLAR) I see this same weakness on IGWT and date of your coin. This means plating was gone before striking. BTW, weakness on CuNi is because copper is a softer metal and will flow easier into the die metal devices. Your coin is a genuine mint error and is worth some money. Preserve it nicely! As a general rule a coin need to have a retail value of at least $200 to justify all of the costs involved in having it TPGed,IMHO. John1 Report this Post to the Staff
