From your pictures it just looks like bad Die Deterioration.

Looks like PSD. Kinda like a Dryer Coin but I don't think so.
I think if you put the coin under a piece of leather and pounded it,the coin would look like your coin.

. Dying die perhaps, but it looks like it's had a squish too. Look at those tiny marks visible on the reverse edge at about 2 o'clock.

Since the damage is equilateral (both sides evenly) this was subjected to a weak corrosive, most likely Coke-a-cola bath in Science class. Possible left in solution just long enough for the chemical breakdown to begin, then was removed and loosen metals reformed. Rim is not affected like a nitride would do.

If the weight is normal, then it is flattening from something. PSD (whatever happened to it is not all that important, it is a damaged coin)

If the weight is lighter than normal then some metal was removed. It doesn't appear to look like acid. Acid would remove metal from the faces and edge first. The rim is there, so I rule out acid dipped coin. PSD

I ruled out Dryer Coin as the rims are not folded over the devices.
