It is a struck through. Not sure if it is grease or a thin layer of grease/oil,and yes there is a difference

The grease filled the die on that area, so it was not just a little grease. Even weakened a bit of Abe's hair also.

What would a coin be classified as, if the same visual appears on both sides of the coin at the same location ?
