roseclaws New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 03/20/2019 9:55 pm Hi there. I've had some troubles identifying this coin, and was wondering if anyone could read it or knows what it is. I apologize if the photos are upside-down, I have a hard time deciphering up versus down when looking at a lot of Chinese, Japanese, etc. characters. From what I've found so far online, I'm going to guess this is a token of some kind, but I could be wrong. Thanks so much for your help! Report this Post to the Staff

At first glance it looks like a cash coin issued during the reign of the Chinese emperor Kao Tsung (1736-1795), which are extremely common and inexpensive. However, your example doesn't look quite right to my eye, and perhaps is a modern replica, although it'd seem a pointlessly unprofitable exercise to reproduce these. Albert Pillar of the Community United States 1915 Posts	Posted 03/21/2019 01:38 am Some similar reference catalog numbers for your coin are: Schjoth #1471, KM# 405 under Chien-lung, 1736-95. And if genuine it's only worth a couple dollars. Yours looks a little unusual. Report this Post to the Staff
