Awesome find Treshunt... I've had a bunch of great finds but nothing along the lines of that merc. My best find of 2008 was a 1914S Lincoln in VF that was hidden in an album of wheat cents. It was in the wrong slot as well as being in an album where the dating was a little confusing. The album itself was loaded with MS example latter date cents (I didn't like the toning on most of them), a perfect set of steelies, and loaded up with early mintmarked dates. I bought the album for $20. I replaced a couple of the nicer latter date MS's with circ examples, replaced the steelies with ones that matched the book better (read circ but not rusted), took out several of the teen date mintmarks along with a few of the 20's minmarks. Then sold the album on ebay for $32... All that said, $32 was a great deal for the buyer IMO. |

About the "MS" 1909, my coin dealer told me EF. I then took it to a coin show where someone, who seemed to be knowledgeable, told me he thought it was about MS-63. I think I need more opinions. However, I don't have a camera to show you guys.

At the Visalia, CA show last Saturday one dealer had an assortment of Mercury dimes in 2X2's, mostly for $1.50 each. I picked out a nice 1919-D in F-15 or better, and a 1919-S in about VF-30. Both were unmolested originals with no problems. PCGS values for these two dates in F-12 are $14 and $12, respectively. The $3 I paid for the pair didn't seem like a bad price!  |

Jaobler, Nice finds on those Mercs!  I seem to find good IHCs in those bins of 2x2s. One recent show I found the 1897 Snow-1 "1 in neck", and the 1887 Snow-1 DDO--both around VF20 for $2-3 apiece. Edited by KurtS
