I did not find it, my ex brother-in-law did.
One day in the late 70's he showed me a 1793
US Half Cent that had some typical planchet pitting, and had very fine details. It was one of the nicest I have ever seen since in person.
He is not a coin collector. The same day he showed me an antique Single Action Army 1873 engraved revolver with ivory grips that was his grandfathers.
A two drool day!

He told me that when he was a kid, he was at a boy scout camp and the
Half Cent was shining in the creek or lake shore in the water.
True story that I saw the
Half Cent, whether his story was true I cannot say but I believe it was.
At the time, I was nuts about type coins, but he wasn't going to part with it. I told him it was worth a couple/few thousand dollars which was only a dream for me to have either the coin or the money. Since then, I always wanted one and they have tripled in value since yet I still don't own a head facing left, one year only, low mintage type coin!
