Hi all,
My family has come into possession of James Croghans entire coin collection. Amongst the coins we found some books written by James Croghan entitled "Canadian cent varieties". A search of the book led us to this forum, so we thought we would make a post about the collection to get some knowledgeable opinion on it.
This picture is just a small sample of the entire collection. There are literally hundreds of coins.

Croghan wrote books on Canada small cent varieties. You will find several knowledgeable collectors on those here on this forum. If there are any Canada large cents in the collection, I would be happy to assist, as would other collectors here. Your photos look like British pennies. CCF also has a United Kingdom forum, where I am sure they can help with those.

Welcome.

I agree with bosox ... many folks here interested in both small and large cents. I'm a large cent man myself. Here is a link to the CCF list of foreign subforums:, including Great Britain and others:

And a hearty welcome to you as well

The full collection is quite large. Thousands of coins, and plenty of Canadian pennies and nickles. A large amount of variety coins I think he was attempting to catalog. Lots of Canadian coins, british coins, US coins, as well as coins from various south american countries. I guess I just need to know what to look out for, and perhaps it'll be the start of a new hobby! Haha

Where are you located. Maybe there is a member or 2 that could help you eyeball the coins and give you a hand

Those staples are rusting-I hope that the coins themselves are OK. At some point you may need to do an acetone wash.
