Need Advice, 1881-O Morgan Dollar Possible Doubled Die Obverse / DDO But Just On The "n"

I recently came across an 1881-O in AU condition that looks like the N is doubled but I cannot find a reference as this being an error or known VAM. Any thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

I looked at about 10 1881-O and a couple other years/mints on Heritage and they all have it. The M has some too. Must be from punching a master die. I've noted this on Barber dimes - the E in America has evidence of tripling at this magnification, and it occurs across all dates. Report this Post to the Staff
kanga Pillar of the Community United States 5825 Posts	Posted 05/27/2020 11:12 am I doubt that the process that results in a DDO or DDR could affect only one letter. And I doubt that the process that results in Machine Doubling could affect only one letter. Most likely it's a result of a "touch up" of a working die or as kbbpll said, the master die.
