There are only a handful of high grade 1940 NF cents about and most of the ones I have seen have a similar appearance to yours and mine. bosox Pillar of the Community United States 1299 Posts	Posted 08/11/2020 10:44 pm IMHO, the so-called 1940 RE is actually Machine Doubling. (I know others have different opinions on that). As MD, the amount of offset varies. Yours has some offset on all four digits of the date. I would guess yours could go either way at a TPG.
