This coin has black spots front & back but otherwise looks good (hard to show) My question is should I remove it from its holder to sell on ebay or leave it? either way the description will read "black spots" plus I might be able to get a better photos

In my opinion, leave it slabbed. I do not think you will gain anything by cracking it out. Spots will still be there with better pics.

I was going to suggest you use NGC pics but yours are better. Must have something to do with the level it was slabbed at.

They appear as carbon spots on the reverse. So there is nothing to do to help these. They have a mind of their own. Best to not buy coins that start to have these appear on them.

So Coop, likely won't sell? I wasn't expecting much but was hoping for a couple bucks.

Someone will buy it, but don't keep your hopes up for much money. I'd value it at less than $10.

I don't think you should mention black spots in your listing . Any buyer who doesn't look at least 3 times at the obverse and reverse of the coin they want to buy is not much of a collector . Let them decide for themselves if the coin is right for them .

Someone already paid $50 to have it slabbed, no reason to take it out - especially at that grade. It's probably a $10 coin.

agree with tbop. just list it with a minimal description, preferably as a buy-it-now if you aren't in a hurry to sell it

I believe NGC photographs everything for verification purposes and you can pay extra so something that is more like PCGS TrueView.

the black carbon spots inflict copper coins quite regularly just as you get zinc bubbles and zinc rot from 1982 and newer Lincoln cents.. Nothing can be done with them.
