1913 Gold Sovereign Grade? - Coin Community Forum

I have a large collection of coins and banknotes, but have no experience with grading coins. QuickSilver Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 1077 Posts	Posted 03/05/2009 1:37 pm Sure no problem (By the way the obverse has the kings head on it) It's got quite a few little digs which are probably less noticeable in hand. Scanners tend to pick those up. Also with the brightness it's a little hard to see the hair detail which is the best way to tell on these. However in my opinion I would grade that as EF or XF. If you can enlarge the pics and turn the brightness down a bit it would be easier to give you a truer grade. Very nice sovereign! Admittedly I just purchased the scanner a few week or so ago and don't really know how to adjust the settings in order to enlarge the picture, or turn down the brightness...I was pretty surprised when I saw the flaws on the scanned picture as you're right, they are as not noticeable to the naked eye. Thanks! I was pretty surprised when I discovered this gem in amongst the other coins that were given to me. I even went back to the person that gifted the coins to me and offered to give it back to him as I wasn't sure that he was aware that one of the coins was a sovereign. And thank you for correcting me in the fact that the obverse has the kings head on it ;). If I can work out the settings on my scanner, I will try and post a better picture!
