I found this coin in a baggy and not sure how it got there. But is it something I should be holding on to? I know nothing about coins so wasnt sure if it was necessary to keep it.

To CCF , A common U.S. Quarter . Your photo is blurry but looks like a 2017 Effigy Mound Value 25¢ .

To be honest, we can't really tell if it's a keeper or not given the one blurry photo posted. Large and sharp photos of both sides of the coin might (might...) tell a different story.

The design was weak, but your coin looks like it was reduce a bit more. No premium for a damaged coin.
