You can buy the complete set from many ebay sellers, or individual dates if you prefer. If you have a local coin shop, you can probably buy them for even less there. to the CCF!

The best place to buy Franklin half dollars may be a local coin show. There are websites like the one below that will tell you about the upcoming coins shows in your area. When you buy coins at coin shows, you can usually get better prices than at a coin shop, and you likely won't have to pay sales tax. https://www.coinshows-usa.com/

The sales tax issue will generally depend on individual state tax laws.

To CCF , Local shows are the way to go if you want to save some money . No shipping ,no sales tax ,view the coin in person , make better offer , no waiting for delivery take the coin home with you .

I love Franklyn's, Easy set in circulated grade and most can be found for melt price. Then you have the full bell line examples in uncirculated and the cameo proofs guys like me.

Thanks to everyone who answered. Some good ideas for a beginner like me. I've heard and read a lot about cleaning coins to make them look like they deserve a higher rating and other tricks some sellers use to fool buyers. Any tips on this would also be appreciated. Thanks again!

I may not be able to help, but a few questions to help others help you. What is your goal for your collection? Just how nice are we talking about? Circulated coins? Basic uncirculated? Higher grade uncirculated? Higher grade full bell lines? If going for a better grade set, a relationship with a dealer who specializes in the series may be in order. Franklin's make a nice collection, and I finished a set of mid-grade uncirculated coins some years ago.
