I ordered a few of the P-D-S Quarter rolls from the Mint. This Quarter was an end Coin from a P roll. I was wanting to hear some thoughts about the place on the nose. Hit? Struck Through? The place you see on the high cheek area seems to be connected at the bottom of the mark on the nose. Thanks for any feedback.

My first thought is a hit taken while the coin was being dumped into large poly bags for transportation/distribution. Two days ago I picked up a couple fresh LOOMIS-wrapped rolls of '22 D Maya Angelou quarters at my bank branch, I'd say at least 75% of them had some rather pronounced dings/hits/gouges. The remaining had dings of a lesser degree. The very best examples went into 2x2s. New coins take a beating as they are processed at the mints for distribution.

I believe it is a strike through. It doesn't have any displaced metal, so it isn't a contact mark/PMD.

I agree, it looks like a struck through error. Note the ends are pointed and definite.

I agree with a struck through. Rim burr maybe.

could it also be part of the anomaly by the mouth and chin?

That does look possible.

I think that is likely a strike through, maybe a wire brush strand that broke off or pre strike rim burr. the other things are contact marks and damage most likely, there's a lot of it in his hair for instance, A lot.

that mouth corner is a bad angle and die chips are turning up there, makes Washington look like he's got a herpes sore. LOL

I think this:

is the very beginning of this:

The reverse isn't too bad, but the obverse is just really ugly.

It will be interesting to see where the coin wrapper damage will affect this design? But there seems to be other areas where contact was made with this coin.
