I'm reading up on Wexlers about DD and other die errors and it seems that some sort of die error can be found on every coin. Well, perhaps, not every coin, but it seems they are quite prevalent. I asked the question before, " Are a line of dots, either in a straight line or not , a sign of the beginnings of a die crack?". Turns out it is. Not to exclude gouges. I've found many of these. Now to open up my rolls to rediscover. Just my thoughts. Am I close?

@ill, I think it would be worthwhile for you to read up on the difference between a mint error and a die event, such as a die crack.

Spence, John1 and Dearborn , I get that personal research is the path to understanding errors and varieties and coins in general. I've done more reading in these last few weeks than I have in the last thirty years. It took some thinking, but I now know the difference between an actual DD and a machine double. I'm willing to put in time and effort towards being knowledgeable in this interest, passion, hobby or whatever you want to call it. It's just that learning has always been a challenge, therefore the username illiterate. My apologies if I insulted anyone. Not my intention. Thank you for your thoughts. Reading on.

...ironically enough, technically speaking, (AFAICT) Machine Doubling is more of an error than a true doubled die, since it is not a die event.

It is, however, far more common and thus far less collectable.

@ill, no insult taken. I'm glad you are here to learn. That is the goal of this website.

In addition to wexlers, consider checking out the error-ref website. You could also look back through a page or two of prior threads on this subforum as we get lots of both (plus ordinary damage) posted here.
