Anyone Else Having Trouble Ordering 2026 Boxes From The Bank?

I had one bank tell me they could order boxes for me, but there is a 15¢ charge/roll. That's $7.50/box over face, which is not too terrible, but that surprised me. I had another bank that told me they could order boxes of quarters, but not halves or dollars. The credit unions I am in don't order many coins and my requests have to wait til they do, which is every 6 weeks or so. They only thing they all agree on is they have no say in whether they get new coins or circulated. You get what you get.

I think most banks have an upcharge for businesses that order or deposit coinage. They don't like coinage at all. They would much rather sell you a mortgage or finance your car. I suspect handling coinage as a service of the banking industry is on the way out, unless you want to pay them extra.

Shop around a bit at different banks and credit unions, if you can, then move your accounts to the ones that understand your desire for coins.

I hate to say it but I think the banks "helpfulness" on ordering boxes might depend on one's account balance. Best if possible have 2 accounts at separate banking institutions (ie B of A and Chase) receive coins from bank A and deposit into bank B. Because when you withdraw and deposit coins those transactions are recorded down to the # of rolls and denomination. With less Business dealing in cash sales the smaller the need for coinage therefore leaving the bank with a stockpile of your searched rolls. Also if your "depositing bank" asks you about your rolls, you can tell them a story like" Mom and Dad stored all the change from the past 40 years in a water bottle and now ........" that way you still keep it friendly.
